The Australia-Taiwan Business Council Limited (ATBC) is conducting the Australia-Taiwan Emerging Business Leaders Program (Program), as a steppingstone in deepening the B2B relationship between Australia and Taiwan by identifying and encouraging the next generation of business leaders.
The Program will run over the 2022 year.
The key outcome of the Program is to promote, develop and connect emerging business leaders from Australia and Taiwan, particularly in the following sectors:
The Program will create opportunities for participants to share their experience and insights through promotions and profiles and will support them in maintaining their professional networks and pursue career opportunities in the Australia-Taiwan bilateral relationship as Program Alumni.
As a strong democracy with an established business infrastructure and rule-of-law, Taiwan is an ideal partner for Australian businesses in the heart of East Asia. Taiwan businesses also have extensive experience and networks across north and SE Asia as well as in China, making it a gateway to a much wider market.
If you are an early-to-mid career professional or entrepreneur with an interest in developing within the Asia-Pacific, the ATBC, through its position at the heart of the Australia-Taiwan relationship, is able to offer suitable candidates in the Program invaluable support in achieving their goals.
The Program offers invaluable opportunities for emerging business leaders to sharpen their understanding of all the factors related to the business environment between Taiwan and Australia, including in-person and online forums with stakeholders and agencies. Program events also provide the chance to develop or expand existing networks and develop the tools necessary to push ahead in forging solid and sustainable relationships.
The Program also includes a range of workshops/forums from well-known speakers selected by ATBC for their insight into the business environment of the Asia-Pacific and specifically of the dynamics of business between Australia and Taiwan.

ATBC is committed to facilitating the growth of a strong bilateral relationship between professionals and entrepreneurs in both Taiwan and Australia.
Through the Program, ATBC is committed to supporting participants by promoting their profile through its communications and publications, through workshops during the Program, culminating in the Emerging Leaders’ Summit scheduled for late October to early November 2022. The Summit will be held in conjunction with the 35th Joint Conference of ATBC and ROCABC, and attendees will include major figures in the Australia-Taiwan relationship such as Chairman Henry Kao of I-Mei Foods, Chairman of ROCABC and Taipower Chairman – Mr Yang Wei-fu and other influential business leaders. After completion of the Program, participants will receive a certificate and on-going support as members of the Program alumni.
The Australia-Taiwan economic relationship is rapidly growing. Australian businesses in the education, tourism, natural resources. and agricultural sectors have found sustained success in Taiwan’s markets. Additionally, high-tech sectors including the digital economy, renewable energy and Australia’s emerging hydrogen industry are promising areas for future collaboration and new business opportunities in Australia and Taiwan.
For more than three decades the ATBC has built strong relationships between Australian and Taiwanese leaders to promote and expand two-way trade and investment. Successful applicants will engage directly with the business leaders and experts at the heart of the Australia-Taiwan relationship to gain rare and relevant insights through a hybrid mix of online and on-site events.
Approximately eight individuals from Taiwan and another eight from Australia will be selected to participate in the Program.
Participants will be early-to-mid career professionals with experience, expertise or demonstrated interest in the Australia-Taiwan economic relationship.
Participants will be selected through a competitive application process and must:
– Hold a bachelor’s degree qualification or higher;
– Demonstrate professional experience with or interest in the Australia – Taiwan economic relationship (internships or applied research will be considered)
– Commit to the full participation in the Program.
ATBC will liaise with stakeholders including the Australian Government and state and territory agencies, as well as universities and industry associations, and counterpart bodies in Taiwan (including CIECA/ROCABC), to identify prospective participants.
ATBC is pleased to announce the successful candidates who have been selected to participate in the Australia-Taiwan Emerging Business Leaders Program. The Program generated great interest from many highly qualified candidates in many fields from both Taiwan and around Australia. The 16 successful candidates bring with them a wide range of skills and experience. It is hoped that through the events, workshops and conferences of the Australia-Taiwan Emerging Business Leaders Program, they will be able to learn from each other and from the prominent stakeholders in the Australia-Taiwan relationship who are contributing to the Program. It will be an amazing chance to brainstorm new ideas, establish relationship, and find new connections to further vitalize the business interactions between Taiwan and Australia.
An official announcement of the candidates will be made at the first event of the Program calendar on 28th April 2022 in Taipei and Sydney hybrid format (Invitation only).
